2012-2013 Academic Try-outs will be held in August of 2013.  More info will come after school starts back in August.

Burns Middle School participates in many competitions throughout the year and has four coaches that help to prepare the students for competitions.  Students are eligible to compete in Mathematics, Social Studies, Arts & Humanities, Science, Composition, Language Arts, Future Problem Solving, and Quick Recall.  Burn's Middle School competes in the Kentucky Colonel's 6th Grade Showcase and the Governor's Cup, which is the pinnacle of the academic team season.  Students that compete at Governor's Cup will take the district level tests and if successful will proceed to the regional and state competitions.  Math Counts is another area in which students can compete.  Math Counts is a very active math program in which students compete and have the possibility of moving to state levels where college scholarships can be awarded.  Burns Middle  School has enjoyed much success in the past with the Academic Team and is looking forward to more success.
