 Readers' Top Choice

Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

"I like it because it's about a girl who didn't know that her mom was dead, but was determined to see her on her birthday.   It is very exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat.  Even if everybody tells her that her mom is dead, she keeps on going."

Reviewer: Lauren Tucker

"It's about a girl on an adventure to find her mom.  On the way she tell Gram and Gramps about Phoebe Winterbottom.  Gram gets bitten by a water moccasin and is rushed to the hospital.  It's a good book."

Reviewer: Robert Johnson  (I intentionally left out a line of Robert's review so he doesn't ruin part of the story for you, like he did for me!  --Muster)

"It is about a girl that is my age who is on a mystery trying to find her mother.  And one of her best friend's mom disappears too.  Mrs. Cadaver was sitting right beside her mom and she survived, but her mom doesn't.  Oh by the way, there is also this so-called stalker.  It's an extraordinary book.  You should read it."

Reviewer: Brooklyn Riley

Poor Mallory by Ann M. Martin

"It teaches you that no one is perfect.  I like it because the girls are our age and they are in middle school.   I think it is much easier to understand."

Reviewer:  Kayla Bartley

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

"I liked this book because it was a heart-warming story that includes animals.  The ending was sad, but it was a wonderful book with many life lessons."

Reviewer: Stevie Ford

Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones

"Sophie, who is the oldest lives in a world where that is considered a misfortune.  When a witch turns her into an old lady, she leaves her apprenticeship as a hat maker to find her fortune when she finds herself on the doorstep of the wicked wizard Howl.

Reviewer:  Hannah Briner

Space Station Seventh Grade by Jerry Spinelli

"The book was in first-person point-of-view and about a middle school kid.  It was adventurous.  Jason was my fav. character."

Reviewer:  Adam Whitehouse

"Eat Your Poison, Dear" by James Howe

"I liked this book because it was a good mystery book.  I was easy to understand.  I want to get it and read it again.  It was about a boy who eats lunch and mysteriously gets ill."

Reviewer: Makayla Murphy

The Giver by Lois Lowry

This book was very inspiring of how cruel life can be.  This book shows that not one person can do it alone.  This was a sad, but touching story.  It is about a boy who lives in a colorless world who begins to learn what his community is really like."

Reviewer:  Morgan Nation

Tales of a Dead King by Walter Dean Myers

"I liked it 'cause these terrorists drop some people in an old gas station and are about to blow up the gas station when they use a rail to cut off the ropes of their hands to climb up a hole in the roof."

Reviewer: Alex Carmon

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

"It gives you a rush that almost makes you jump right out of your set.  If you read it fromt he bottom of your heart you can get emotional.  If you like a surviving ride the this is the one for you."

Reviewer: Jenna Goodlet

Rules by Cynthia Lord

"I like it because it is about a girl that has a little brother who has autism and all the troubles she has to deal with."

Reviewer:  Kelli Roberts

Clique (a series) by Lisi Harrison

"I like the Clique book novels because they are about this group of rich girls who struggle with being popular and also trying to stay in the clique because "the only thing harder then getting in is staying in."  From Prada, DKNY, to Mark Jacobs, this book has it all."

Reviewer: Hannah Roach

Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris

"A little boy ran away from home and lived with a dwarf that found him in a forest all his life.  When he was grown up he had a telescope and he watched a princess.  He found out that he was a prince, he went and met her, and they fell in love and got married."

Reviewer: Alyssa McCarthy

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

"Because it used funny play on words.  And I think the book was better than the movie.  My favorite character was the Humbug because he is funny."

Reviewer: Justin Chaney

Shadow Brothers by A.E. Cannon

"The book is well written and makes you want to read more.  This book is more like a movie than a book."

Reviewer: Jeremy Huehls

Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech

"Because it is a very interesting and exciting.  My favorite characters were Dallas and Florida because they just had a very odd and caring personality.  It's very sad at one moment because you think this guy is going to drown in the water."

Reviewer: Kendra Coomes

Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper

"Because it was a life lesson book and it also was about sports.  The life lesson was not to drink because the four teenagers were drinking and driving and they wrecked and one kid died.  I don't ever want to drink."

Reviewer: Tanner Ward

So B. It by Sarah Weeks

:"It was my favorite book because I love the characters, the setting, and the theme.  I also like how it is sad and happy but at different times.  Over all the story is awesome!"

Reviewer: Taylor Sevy

Night John by Gary Paulsen

"I love to read Night John because I like to read how Night John teachers them and gets away!"

Reviewer: Taylor Fenwick

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo

"I like the plot twist that happened while Despereaux is in the dungeon, and the romance between the mouse and the princess."

Reviewer: Julie Crabtree

Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli

"It's a book about this kid that loves to run.  His parents die in a train crash though, so who can he trust now?"

Reviewer: Garrett Rhoades

"I like this book because it has a little bit of mystery and action.  This is one of the best books I've read this year.  I think you would really enjoy this book."

Reviewer: Kelli Roberts

"I like that book because it's creative and it's main characters are my age and they are easier to understand.  It is also a good way to teach kids how to use their imaginations.
